Our fabrics
At Laing, we are selective about the fabrics we use, ensuring they meet the practical needs of each garment while remaining true to our sustainability goals.

Cashmere
Cashmere is the ultimate luxury—soft, lightweight, and irresistibly warm. This rare natural fibre comes from the undercoat of cashmere goats, produced in far smaller amounts than wool, making it all the more exclusive. Delicate yet durable, cashmere is a timeless symbol of effortless elegance.
At Laing, we source only A-Grade cashmere yarn from trusted companies that provide the finest fibres, carefully harvested from free-roaming goats on the Inner Mongolian Plains. We partner exclusively with providers who own their cashmere farms, ensuring complete transparency and quality from fibre to yarn.
Cashmere is perfect for those with sensitive skin, as it’s naturally hypoallergenic. Its durability means it lasts for years, becoming even softer and more comfortable with time. The luxurious texture adds an effortless elegance to any outfit, whether you’re dressing up or keeping it casual.

Merino
Merino wool is your year-round wardrobe essential, adapting effortlessly to every season. It keeps you cozy in the winter and cool in the summer, thanks to its natural, temperature-regulating magic. Despite its warmth, it's as light as air, making it the ideal layering piece for any season.
As with all wools, merino is a renewable, biodegradable material, making it as sustainable as it is stylish. But here’s the luxury twist: our merino comes with an extra finishing touch called “cashfeel.” This gives it a supremely soft, smooth finish that feels absolutely divine against your skin. We’ve knitted this exquisite yarn into everything from lush, heavier weights to ultra-fine 16-gauge pieces that feel as delicate as tissue paper.

Linen
Synonymous with the warmer months, linen represents the type of effortless, everyday dressing we love. Lending a relaxed nature to the pulled-together, this luxuriously soft fibre combines holiday ease with subtle polish. Beyond this sartorial nous, the natural qualities of linen make this the ideal summertime fabric.
In true holiday style, linen is easy to care for too. A cool machine wash is ideal, with similar colours and likeminded fabrics. Avoid the drier to protect the weave and ensure longevity by drying outside, out of direct sunlight if possible. An iron will give your favourite linen shirt a lovely crispness but please be mindful to use low heat.

Cashmere blends
Cashmere is often blended with sheep’s wool or other fibers to combine the best of both worlds. The cashmere adds its signature softness and luxurious feel, while the other fibers enhance durability and strength, creating a perfect balance of comfort and practicality.
At Laing, we work with yarns that blend cashmere with wool, Supima cotton, silk, and cotton. Each blend offers a distinct hand-feel, allowing us to carefully craft garments that drape and fold beautifully, ensuring elegance and comfort with every wear.
One of our most popular yarn blends is a 70:30 mix of wool and cashmere. This durable combination is perfect for our heavier-gauge knitwear, offering both structure and softness for pieces that drape beautifully and hold their shape.

Polyester Blends
Polyesters durability means hard-wearing garments like work pants will last longer, reducing the need for frequent replacements, and its easy-care properties lower the environmental costs associated with dry cleaning. The key is certainly adopting balance - we use polyester blends strategically in garments where its resilience adds value, like workwear or outerwear, while prioritising natural or eco-friendly fibres for other pieces.
